Today's Flower

Well today, I have two different types of flowers from our new house. One I would call a weed, a dandelion, the other is a true flower. I have to say we have more dandelion's than anything at the moment, which if I were at my old house I would have dug them all out by now. Here at the new house, we have more weeds than grass, plus there are five acres, so I think I would be on a losing battle, don't you?

I guess you have to make some dandelion wine! The Muscari are cute, with luck they will spread.

A field of dandelions is pretty amazing. In our yard it's a different story. With 5 acres I don't think you'd win. Just mow over them before they go to seed and you should be able to keep them from spreading.

Have a wonderful day friend.

What you might need now is a pet goat..he will surely munch down those weeds for you!
You are living my dream to have a house in the woods!
I would surely have a goat!

Hello Gill
Nice early spring bulbs - Muscari aka Grape Hyacinth
I think you'd lose the Grape Hyacinth as well as the Dandelions with a resident goat lol
Take care

Hmmm, losing battle? Hehe, a few workouts pulling the weeds, maybe good for me. Have a nice week.

If I were you, I would sit back and enjoy the most perfect gold the dandelions give you as a free gift. The dandilion is anything but a weed, it is a useful healing plant, its roots can be turned into a coffee alternative without cafeine, the young leaves will vitamin enrich your salads, and its flower heads can be turned into the most delicius fluid gold liqueur.
Adapting to country life is so much easier than the other way around. A lawn is all very well but useless, whereas a meadow oversown with wildflowers needs less mowing and provides food for insects and birds. Enjoy.

Great photos Gill and those dandelions will be a thing of the past before you know it. Thanks for sharing.

Yellow and purple blossoms ... my favorite kinds! I don't know what the purple blossom is, but it 'volunteers' in MY garden yearly and seems quite hardy. Methinks I shared some recently at Sacred Ruminations for Purple Passion.
Hugs and blessings,
